Sad moment (#89)
Oh, what a crying moment it was, for all Sierra Leoneans home and abroad.
Since I was a child, I never saw my country show a moment of silence.
The way they act this past Thursday (20 January 2022).
In every part of the country, people were so sad to an extent that, even old people were crying for the loss.
Oh my "God" we were so happy to see our brothers representing our darling "Leone stars."
Everyone is in high spirits supporting our country with a lot of love and happiness all over the country.
Sierra Leone participated this year after a very long time, it was an amazing moment for the country.
When every time "Sierra Leone" is going to play you will see people close the shoppes, offices every where in the country.
Petty traders close the businesses, schools close early and even motorcycle and taxis drivers do stop and watch the games.
In the first game "Sierra Leone" play against the defending champion (Algeria) and get a single point.
Sierra Leoneans were very much happy about the result, not all Sierra Leoneans was expecting such a result.
A video was out to the public when the president was celebrating and saying to the public (na we dae play "hahaha").
"Na we dae play means we are the one playing."
Play the second against the elephant of Africa (Ivery cost) and get our send draw, getting two solid points.
It was not an easy game at all for our players.
Our goalkeeper was named man of the match against Algeria in the opening game.
Other players did well, too, but we lost the last game of the group by a single goal to Equatorial Guinea.
We just needed a draw to take us to the round of sixteen(16), the team even got a penalty.
But it was unfortunately missed by one of our best players (Kai Ansu Kamara).
We lost and everyone was frustrated, because we were knocked out of the competition.
The country's people were sad, feeling unhappy.
Some were blaming players, coaches and even the government.
Some were not able to work, everyone was heartbroken.
After some days people were able to pick up strength again and welcome the team home.
There is a saying "He who fights and run will live to fight and another day."
Sierra Leone will come strongly to fight again in 2023 (Afcon).
None of our boys has ever played such a competition, now they have tested it they now know what it tastes like.
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."
Congratulations to the team and management for representing our darling Leone Stars.
Have a blessed weekend.
