Oh, Africa here, the people cry (#184).
On the 26th of November 2023 early in the morning, I was on my way to Freetown, the capital city of Sierra Leone.
A hundred miles plus close to Freetown in one town called Lunsar, there is a checkpoint there, and both police and soldiers are at the checkpoint.
We arrived there very early around (6:40 am), they stopped us and asked us to park in a safe place so they could search our bags.
We did gently as they asked us to do, and we were very surprised by the way things were going it was not the normal way of checking.
They told us there was a serious gunfight at Freetown around (1am) to midnight on that day, according to them it was not safe for us to continue our journey.
In that discussion, I received a WhatsApp share from one of my friends through the Minister of Information and Civil Education.
To enable the security forces to continue the process of apprehending the suspects.
Because of that, a nationwide was declared with immediate effort across the country.
According to a press release from the minister, which was quickly calculated on social media, to keep the citizens safe.
Some unidentified individuals attempted to break into the military armory at the Wilberforce barracks.
You know when there is a problem/panic, there will be a lot of news/messages all over the media, you will even get confused about which one you will believe.
There was news going on that they did not just attempt but they broke into the barracks, even a few soldiers lost their lives.
May their gentle souls rest in peace, after that peaceful conversation with the offices we peacefully returned to Makeni City at once.
On our way, we heard that the correctional Center *Pandem Road* was broken, and all the prisoners escaped.
That caused a lot of fairness in the country, souls were lost and some were injured.
Serious hardship in the country and now things like this are happening, many schools have closed for now.
As I am speaking now we are under curfew (9:00 pm-6:00 am), why all the shooting and killing, we are praying for a better Sierra Leone.
One thing some Sierra Leonean home and abroad fail to realize is that there is no place like home.
No matter how much you try to be a citizen on another man's land, your home is always your home.
There is only one Salone we have, please pray for our beloved "Mama Salone" All we need is peace and let stop the violence.
Let's build a beautiful home so that more investors will come to our country, through that a lot of youth will get employed.
Most importantly, let us be positive.
Thanks for reading and God bless you.
