Mother, I am sorry (127).
Please as you are about to read the story, I want you to give your 100% attention and meditate on it.
If you find yourself guilty about what I am saying now, I am sincerely asking you to take a U-turn and say I love you, mom.
Things happen between parents and children, especially when they think they are OK and they can do all things on their own.
If I can recall when I was a kid, my late mom can go all out to see me go happy and live a rich life.
When I was a kid I attended one of the most famous schools around the kissy and east end part of freetown (St Michael Primary School).
According to my parents, at the age of nine months or almost a year old, they separate.
Just a baby by then my mom did not let go of me, she decided to take care of me single-handedly with a lot of love.
She did not have much to take care of me, so she had to take risk of doing all kinds of business so she could raise money and give me a better life.
When I reach the age for me to start schooling my mom knows that, the business she is doing can not pay my fees or help me with lunch and other expenses.
In the morning, she sold cooked rice and in the afternoon, she sold cook cassava so she could give me a better life.
Yes sometimes they hurt us, but you can't compare how much we have put them through to help us reach where we are today.
We think sometimes it is our right for them to go all through that for us.
But I am telling you this now, if you have a parent doing or did everything possible for you to reach the level you are today, count yourself very lucky.
One day my mom couldn't afford a holiday dress for me, she was very disturbed, we were having a program at the school company.
It was the 16th of June [African child's day celebration], and everything about you on that very day as a child should be in an African setting.
On that day you will see many beautiful African dresses and sweet African foods [delicious], beautiful plays [creative Africa play].
Every child will never choose to miss that beautiful day in school because there will be a lot of fun and joy, with the pupils and teachers.
Such events only come once a year, the child will never choose to miss that beautiful day at school [hahaha].
As I said before, my mom did not have a single cent with her, for her to buy me what I needed to attend the program.
As a child, all I need from her, she needs to give me what I need, I don't care how she gets them.
What my mom did was touch, since she didn't have any money with her, she decided to sell her only beautiful dress [oh mothers].
Only a true mother can make such a sacrifice for his child. I was so pleased when she said she had the money for me to attend the program.
When I reached the stage to help my mom do some domestic work, helping her raise money for us to live on, I chose to be stubborn.
Sometimes she is angry with me because of the things I do to her. She cries and says all she is doing is for my own good.
I miss her since the day I lost her (cry) mom was a very hardworking and determined woman.
Today she is nowhere to rip what she sows for years, she went through all of that because of me.
My mom was a real hero who fought a lot to see me successfully in life.
This is a very good advice for all of us, especially those who were raised by a single mother.
If you are not treating that woman who carries you for nine months in her womb well.
Now because she is hollered, and stubborn, she puts up many attitudes now because of her age.
Trust me you are making a very big mistake, if I were you I would go and apologise to her now.
Because sometimes you never understand what she went through for you to get good life and quality education.
Now you have become somebody in society, you don't want to hear the voice of that woman.
I want to take this time to plead with everyone who is ignoring their parents because they provide to be nagging, annoying or bothering you.
Please it is high time you go back and show love to them, you avoiding them will cause harm rather than good for them.
Don't wait to lose them before you choose to help them, by then it is too late.
Celebrate your parents when they are alive not when they are dead, they will never experience that love in the grave.
They need us, especially in their retirement age, that is the time they need us more than ever.
Not the money they need but our love and attention, that keeps them going and puts a lot of smiles on their faces.
I remember a brother of mine [Sam] who inspired me a lot, with the love he has for his mom.
He always talks beautiful things about her mom, he never knew I was so inspired by the love he has for his mom.
But I want you to know after reading this, you always mentor me on how to love our parents.
Thank you brother (Sam) for all the inspiration, I know your mother will be very proud of you.
You have a heart of gold which many youths at your age will not do, that for loving your mom so very much.
Don't ignore, drop your pride, I plead to every youth should love and respect for their parents.
Do not feel yourself with ego to pick up the phone or go home, tell your mom [I am very sorry for everything].
I love you as you make that brilliant decision.
Have a wonderful and peaceful weekend.
